Pop star Justin Bieber has announced he is ‘officially retiring’ on Twitter.
The 19-year-old star, who has caused controversy in recent months for antics including partying underage in nightclubs and spray-painting public property in Australia, told his 47,930,355 followers he has decided to step back from the spotlight.
“My beloved beliebers I’m officially retiring,” he tweeted.
“The media talks a lot about me.They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I’m never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle.
“Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER.”
Last week Justin told an LA radio station he was planning on retiring after releasing his new album Journals.
“I want to grow as an artist and I’m taking a step out, I want my music to mature,” he said.
A source close to Justin insisted he was just joking and has no plans to permanently hang up his microphone.
The insider said: “The kid’s got ambition.”
